22 Days Without a Kitchen

This didn't just begin April 22, 2013. I've beenmentally working on a new kitchen design
since moving into my little stone house eight years ago. When my change jar chi-chinged the magic number, I sped down I-79 to the nearest Lowes to begin the odyssey of my French-inspired
Wine Cafe Kitchen. The template for new counter top was complete, walls painted (after a three week battle of wall-paper removal --- NEVER wall paper if there is any chance at all that it is not a forever thing!), new rugs purchased, vanity clock hung, beautiful sink appliances to match my new chrome appliances,  new wine rack installed...I am READY for my new kitchen.

But my kitchen wasn't ready for me.

Today I am playing hooky once again from work to be at home while installers try to pieced together a counter top that should have only taken about 45 minutes to install the first time.

Because I have no counter top, I have no sink. (That is another horror story in itself, and I promised my husband that I would not dwell on that issue today.) Because I have no sink, I cannot wash dishes. Because I cannot wash dishes, I cannot prepare food. Because I cannot prepare food, my family must consume fast food and expensive take out. Because our diets are screwed up, we gain weight and sprout unsightly blemishes. Because our physical appearance is suffering, we are irritable, gassy, and depressed.

One would think that I am doing major renovation. My kitchen is quite small and my choice of counter top and sink  very simple. WHY is this such a complicated process?

These guys have been here nearly 3 hours and I do not see much progress...other than just another mess to clean up...without a sink.
This is what it used to look like. Bowling alley green, boomerang design.
This is what is SHOULD look like.
